Tết Trung Thu 2022

On September 10, 2022 we had our annual Mid Autumn Festival in Clinton Park. The event was co-hosted and sponsored by over thirty community partners, such as Oakland Roots, ArTogether, Trybe, and so many more. We had a full program with local stars such as the Ao Dai Girls and featured two world famous Vietnamese performers: Trung Vu and Van Anh Vo. Free lanterns, mooncakes, tea, locally made okaki, and grilled lunches were given to the kids. Our community partners also provided games, arts & crafts, bouncy house slides, and more at no cost. The day was spent celebrating culture, community, and our youth. We can’t wait until next year!

OVCC is proud to have been chosen as the recipient of the City of Oakland's 2022 Neighborhood Voices Grant and partnered with the East Bay Refugee and Immigrant Forum (EBRIF), as well as other community organizations, for this event.

We met with over 30 different community focused organizations at Clinton Park in Little Saigon to celebrate members of our community who’s cultures and diversity make Oakland such a special place. There was art, performances featuring music and dance, and stories shared by immigrant and refugee members of the community and more all at no cost to the public. Food from many different cuisines were enjoyed and OVCC worked with Cam Huong Deli to provide bánh chuối (sticky rice & banana wrapped and steamed in banana leaves) and chè đậu trắng nước dừa (white bean and coconut milk dessert reminiscent to pudding) to guests of the festival with a grant from the Lao Family Community Development Center.

We had an áo dài fashion show and dance performance while playing traditional Vietnamese music many guests wore their own áo dài as well! Thank you very much to our volunteers who helped our team with this fun filled cultural event for the community.
