Little Saigon Directory

The Little Saigon District of Oakland is characterized by the many small businesses it is comprised of, which range from beauty salons to auto shops to restaurants specializing in all kinds of foods imaginable, with many other services available as well. This district reflects the historical avenues that the predominantly Vietnamese and other immigrant communities were able to find success in, and visibly catalogs the design of a community to serve residents with limited English proficiency. Storefronts advertising their services in multiple languages - many non-English - display how the community holds onto their diverse heritages, and serves those that otherwise face language and structural barriers in getting the resources they need.

This directory was created with the aim of helping businesses that historically have been overlooked by both institutions and mainstream society expand their digital presence, in order to help preserve the unique narrative of the Eastlake neighborhood. As a community representing multiple cultures, we recognize the importance of sustaining these spaces, as ones that uplift immigrants and refugees and creates for them a place providing resources, opportunity and comfort. We welcome you to explore the directory for whatever you may need - whether it be food, jewelry, professional services or auto repairs - and then to visit our Little Saigon district, and experience for yourself the multiculturalism and history of our neighborhood.
