RECAP: 2025 Tet Festival (Year of the Snake!)

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, we proudly hosted the Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival at Clinton Park in Oakland’s Little Saigon, bringing together over 800 attendees for our largest celebration yet! This lively and family-friendly event showcased the rich traditions of Tet, uniting families, friends, and local organizations in a day of joy and cultural pride.

Also known as the Lunar New Year Festival, Tet is a treasured tradition across East and Southeast Asia—a time for family reunions, honoring ancestors, and welcoming the arrival of spring. Marking the start of the new lunar year, the festival is filled with customs meant to bring good luck, health, and prosperity. This year, we celebrated the Year of the Snake, a symbol of wisdom, transformation, and renewal.

The festival was a hub of excitement, featuring 13 community partners, 11 art and merchant vendors, and 15 food vendors. Attendees enjoyed electrifying performances from CalVSA Lion Dance, the Ga Ga Dance Group, Green Sound Band, Ao Dai Performers, and more. Families and children delighted in five carnival games and a jump house, making for a fun-filled day for all ages.

Festivalgoers shared their excitement:
“I think it is a great place to be. I love seeing the community out, and there’s a lot of cool vendors.”
“The performances are amazing. So good to see young people shine and have fun!”
“So fun just seeing the breadth of community that has been in the area.”

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Tet 2025 with our community. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible! We look forward to making next year’s festival even bigger and more memorable.
