2024 Lunar New Year Festival (Têt)

Recap: 2024 Lunar New Year Festival (Têt)

On January 28th, 2024, our organization proudly hosted the Tết (Lunar New Year) Festival at Clinton Park in Oakland’s Little Saigon.

Lunar New Year, or Tết in Vietnamese culture, is a cherished time for family reunions, honoring ancestors, and welcoming the arrival of spring. It marks the start of the new lunar calendar year, celebrated with rituals meant to bring good luck, health, and prosperity. Communities come together to share traditional foods and engage in customs that reflect cultural pride and heritage. This year, we celebrated the Year of the Dragon.

Our festival brought in over 500 attendees, along with 17 community partners, 3 art vendors, and 2 food vendors, all sharing goods and resources with the community. The day was filled with vibrant performances by Ao Dai Performers, Green Sound Band, and Laotian dancers. It was a beloved community event, with community members saying:

“It’s a beautiful event with a lot of joy and love for community members of all ages.”

“Fun stuff, Good food, Love the music.”

“Great to see Clinton Park come alive and see the community.”

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to celebrate with our community and look forward to growing this event even more in the future!
