2023 Mid-Autumn Festival (Têt Trung Thu)

Recap: 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival (Têt Trung Thu)

On September 24th, 2023, the Oakland Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce hosted a vibrant Tet Trung Thu (Mid-Autumn Festival) celebration at Clinton Park in Oakland Little Saigon. The event brought together hundreds of community members, families, friends, nonprofits, artists, and more for a day of cultural festivities.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a cherished tradition in many East and Southeast Asian cultures. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is at its brightest. The festival is a time for family reunions, gratitude for the harvest, and the enjoyment of mooncakes. Lanterns are lit as symbols of hope, good fortune, and prosperity.

Our event attracted over 400 attendees and provided a safe, family-friendly environment for all to enjoy. We featured 7 art vendors, 4 food vendors, and 11 community partners offering goods and resources. The day was filled with performances, including a special appearance by Nhu Quynh, a renowned Vietnamese-American singer.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to celebrate with our community and look forward to making this event even bigger in the future!
